...there was a little girl called Charlotte. She lived with her mummy and daddy in New Zealand and was very happy. But one day, when she was only seven years old, her parents separated. She was very sad, especially as her dad, Liam, then spent a lot of his time in England working on a new business. Although he came back to see her as often as he could, it wasn’t the same as being able to be with him every day. So one day she thought of an idea: On a small piece of paper she made a Hug Ticket which read: “This is a ticket so when you want to have a hug you give it to the person.” She gave it to her daddy when he visited again to remind him how important it is to have lots of hugs. Although her dad now lives back in New Zealand (so they have lots of hugs) he has kept it with him in his wallet for the eight years since Charlotte gave it to him. And it reminds him every time he opens his wallet that no one can ever have too many hugs.
The Original Hug Ticket

Everyone needs hugs but how many people get many at all? Wouldn’t the world be a different place if we all remembered to hug more often. So Charlotte and Liam came up with the idea that everyone should have Hug Tickets to share with the people around them. So here it is....
- Download and print your own Hug Tickets
- Whenever you want a hug – or see someone that you think needs one – give them a ticket.
- Have a nice hug.
- Tell them to keep the ticket and to share with someone else.
Whether you share it with your family, your friends, or even strangers, a Hug Ticket is a really nice way to make them (and you) feel a little bit special.
Try it! And may your day be filled with lots of hugs.
With hugs,Charlotte & Liam PS. Tell us your story or become a friend on our Facebook page and tell us how you get on with your Hug Tickets. For more hugs also check our More Resources page. Share and enjoy! |
